Mint or minting

Definition of minting

Minting is a method for a person to generate a new token (or NFT) on a blockchain without the involvement of external parties. When a person wants to create an NFT, he needs to add this to a blockchain network. This process is called minting.

Examples of the term minting in a sentence

“I have created a beautiful set of photos that I want to sell as NFT, can you help me mint those on the XRPL?”

“When you are minting an NFT you have to enter information like the title and description of the NFT,”

How minting works

Minting an NFT is different from minting a new cryptocurrency. When you want to mint an NFT on the Ethereum blockchain you need to hold ETH in a wallet and then sign in to an NFT marketplace. You then upload the NFT to the marketplace and enter information like the title and description of the NFT. The next step is to pay for the minting process (in this case you pay in ETH) and when the transaction has been verified the NFT will be minted.
